KANSAS CONSTRUCTION SAFETY NETWORK

STANDING TOGETHER TO HELP MENTAL HEALTH IN CONSTRUCTION WORKERS

It’s all of our responsibility to help those who build up Kansas. The Kansas Construction Safety Network places a special focus on promoting construction worker mental health and battling opioid abuse, as those challenges affect too many workers in construction. Join us in sharing resources, starting conversations and attending events. Together, we can save lives.

ADDRESSING CONSTRUCTION WORKER MENTAL HEALTH AND SUICIDE

Suicide is the ninth leading cause of death in Kansas and our industry is not immune from the dangers. Unfortunately, the numbers are disproportionately high for the construction industry. This is why it is important to educate your workers about this deeply troubling public health concern. It’s not always easy to talk to someone about mental health in construction, but when someone’s life is at risk, their safety is the most important consideration.

BATTLING OPIOID ABUSE

In 2020 alone, there were more than 93,000 overdose deaths in the United States, nearly 75% of which involved an opioid. Substance abuse often goes hand in hand with mental wellness issues. We’re committed to raising awareness of the problem and assisting those in construction to help reduce those numbers and keep our workers safe, on and off the worksite.
